Community Home Australia was Australia’s first community embedded independently operated specialist residential homes for people living with Younger Onset Dementia with the capability of offering permanent accommodation and support, planned respite and overnight emergency respite care, all located in a residential house in the community.
We welcome guests being funded by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) as well as guests privately funding their own care.
When you choose to come to Community Home Australia, life continues. We are all about community … Staying in a local community, accessing local services and remaining as active as you want to be.
Most traditional aged care facilities have to build a fake version of reality … pretend shops, pretend kitchens and pretend houses. We provide the support to live in the real world.
Unlike nursing homes, our houses are just like your house. You can participate in the organised activities, or simply watch a movie or TV, listen to music, read the newspaper or a good book or have a wander in the garden. You do as much or as little as you desire, all in a comfortable homely environment with caring staff around the clock.
Our new house in Sydney, Kora House, offers individual studio apartments with 24 hour care and Registered Nurses available 7 days a week. This arrangement provides an increased level of personal privacy while still offering social connection and care.
Our planned and overnight emergency respite options are offered to all people living with dementia and disability and provides carers the opportunity to have a break – particularly in times of carer stress. We also offer short term places for people leaving hospital but are not quite ready to return home or are waiting for other forms of accommodation. Permanent places are also available.
At Community Home Australia you’ll have access to every health and lifestyle support option, nutritious and tasty meals when you want to eat them, Registered Nurses onsite to provide clinical care and an active social calendar at our day clubs.
Our day therapy programs at Club Kalina and Club Kinta provide the option of structured activities, meaningful engagement and access to the community to see the wonderful sights of the ACT and Sydney.
Enjoy life at your pace without the restrictions and drawbacks of traditional aged care homes:
- No sharing your space with 100+ others. Our home caters for a maximum of 6 guests staying overnight.
- Nutritious and varied meals - no nursing home food here! We cook food fresh each day and have negotiated deals with local cafes and restaurants, so you choose the cuisine and order what you like on special days.
- Want something out of the ordinary? Not a problem. Just ask and we will arrange it for you.
- Our Houses fitted with a range of smart technologies to offer complete transparency for you and your loved ones, ease of access to entertainment, and to keep connections with family and friends alive, no matter where they live.
